Spring bulbs give a colorful start to spring. Especially when you plant bulbs in pots or in your garden around the house. You are ready to plant your bulbs, but why should you use a flower bulb planting basket? You can use the baskets for two reasons. Flower bulbs can be expensive, luckily most bulbs flower again next season. If you want to keep the bulbs you have to let all the foilage die back. This way the bulb can store food for next spring. But all that wilting foliage in your pots around your house is not what you want. So you plant the bulbs with soil in a basket. The bulbs root shallow and you can easily take out the basket with roots, bulbs, and wilting foliage and let them do their thing in a spot where you don’t see them! When you empty your pots in autumn and prepare the garden for next spring you simply put the baskets with soil and bulbs back in your pots or garden and you are ready for a new season.

Another season you want to grow them in baskets is to keep the bulbs together. Some bulbs tend to wander around and spread in your garden. You can keep them under control by planting them in baskets, in the soil. If voles are eating your spring bulbs you might also want to try the baskets. The voles dig tunnels under the ground and can’t eat from bulbs in baskets that easily.
