Productinformation
Tulip Tineke van der Meer
A beautiful dark stem with a full deep pink tulip on top. When you plant this tulip bulb deep, Tineke will give you a nice long stem of 50 centimeters. This makes the tulip very suitable for the vase or flower arrangements. Compared to other tulips, Tineke van der Meer will bloom in the middle of tulip season. Her sturdy single flowers easily last a week or more in the vase when freshly picked.
The tulips we offer are very disease-resistant and grown without chemicals by a Dutch family with a love for nature. We decided to offer these clean tulips to help support their transition to a less harmful tulip industry.

How to plant tulips:
Plant tulip bulbs in well-draining soil. If your garden is too wet the bulbs might rot in winter. make sure your garden or field is not underwater for multiple days after heavy rain, or pick a spot in the garden that is a little higher. If you want to use your tulips as cut flowers, make sure you plant your bulb deep, this way you extend the stem length. Tulips need a period of cold weather before they start blooming.
To grow tulips for cut flowers you can plant them closer together as long as the bulbs do not touch each other. If you want to grow tulips as garden flowers you can plant them further apart. Planting tulips in small groups together will give you a more organic result.
Plant the bulbs at least double the bulb size deep, with the pointy size up (around 15 cm). If the soil is dry you can water them a bit after planting. The bulbs will start to grow roots and are better protected against rotting. The bulbs already have all the nutrients stored inside the bulb.
Tulips are very suitable to plant in pots. In spring the colorful pots filled with flowers will give you the ultimate spring feeling.
The moment your tulips will bloom is very dependant on spring weather. Tulip Tineke van der Meer on average blooms in the middle of spring in The Netherlands. If spring is very cold the tulips will wait for better weather (just like us!) before they show their beautiful blooms.
