Productinformation

Zinnia Elegans, Queen lime blush flower seeds
The ‘Queen’ series represents a remarkable accomplishment in flower breeding, boasting zinnias that display a range of unique colors and feature either half or fully-double flowers. One of the standout cultivars in this series is Queen Lime Blush, which showcases a stunning combination of lime green and yellow hues that transition from a dark pink to a crimson center. Each flower in this series is distinct, imbuing any garden with a lovely natural variation.

These plants can grow up to 75 cm in height and boast a well-branched growth pattern, featuring sturdy, straight stems. The large 7.5 cm flowers they produce make them a perfect choice as cut flowers. Moreover, these zinnias are reliable summer bloomers, able to thrive even in high temperatures and showing slightly more resistance to mildew than other varieties.

How to grow zinnias from seed?
To start growing zinnias, you can sow the seeds indoors in seed trays 4 to 6 weeks before the last frost date. Once the danger of frost has passed, transplant the zinnia seedlings outside. Alternatively, you can sow the seeds directly into the soil once the weather is warm enough, but keep in mind that zinnias are frost-sensitive and cannot survive in cold temperatures. If you live in an area with unpredictable weather, it may be best to wait an additional 2 weeks after the last frost date to ensure that the nights are not too cold, which can stunt growth.

Zinnias thrive in full sun and require adequate moisture to grow well, especially in warm climates. They prefer rich soil and do best when grown in compost or fertilizer that slowly releases nutrients. Halfway through or at the end of the flowering period, you can give them an extra dose of fertilizer to promote healthy growth. If there is a lack of rainfall, be sure to water the zinnias weekly, but avoid getting the leaves wet to prevent disease.

While zinnias are generally easy to grow, they can be susceptible to powdery mildew in extremely humid summers. Protect young plants from slugs and snails, and regularly remove dead flowers to encourage new growth.
