The sturdy 40 cells Containerwise long-lasting Propagation Module Trays
The eco-friendly and sturdy 40 cell seed tray is designed to fit most seedlings, from flowers to vegetables to fresh herbs. Due to the use of strong, recycled, and recyclable materials, the trays will last up to 15 years, so you will not have to buy new module trays over and over again! Personally, the 40 cell seed trays are our favorite and most used tray to start our seeds because you can sow many vegetables in this cell size.

Because of the big 4 centimeter cells, you can fill this tray with loads of compost to start almost all seeds. due to the bigger cell size, the compost does not dry out as quickly as can be with smaller cell sizes.
Most seedlings can grow big enough in this seed tray to be planted out in the garden without the need of transplanting them to bigger pots first. If you start seedling indoors don’t forget to harden off your plants before exposing them to the outdoor conditions.

Module trays or plug trays are great to extend your season by starting out early indoors, or in a greenhouse. Here in The Netherlands growing in plug or seed trays we can start sowing a few months earlier compared to direct sowing.

Why should you try the module trays we offer?
– Long-lasting with a life expectancy of 15+ years
– Sturdy, durable, and easy to hold with one hand
– Large holes to pop our seedlings and prevention of soggy soil
– Roots are air pruned to support branching
– UV stabilized and save to grow your vegetables in

Sturdy trays (I bought the 40 trays), good and fast delivery. What more could I want? Thanks!

Very fine seed trays: also my favorite

April 22, 2022

I ordered the first module seed trays in December 2021, in several varieties. For my 160 m2 vegetable garden I currently (April 22, 2022) have:
– 4x 60 cell
– 10x 40 cell
– 4x 28 cell
– 4x 15 cell
– 4x 40 cell deep (just yet, review coming later)
– 4x 28 cell deep (just yet, review coming later).
For all variants applies that they feel very sturdy and solid and per size can be stacked neatly together. And of course, it is nice that they contribute to a better environment because of the recycled aspect and that they will last for years.
These are my experiences with the 40-cell seed trays:
Meanwhile, they are in full use and I am very satisfied with them. This size is the one I use the most in practice.
The trays are filled quickly and are easy to handle. The plants come out easily by pushing them up with a finger. And also important: they come out with a nice and strong root system that gives them a very good start in the field: I see remarkably less slug infestation on these plants than on the plants I sowed in a seed tray where I have to pull roots apart.
The 40-cell variant uses a bit more soil than the 60-cell variant, but I don’t experience that as a disadvantage. I find the advantages to be greater: the plants can stay in it a bit longer to grow bigger and stronger and the modules dry out less quickly. The latter is an advantage for me because I don’t have a home vegetable garden and therefore can’t check the situation every day.
Because of the large number of slugs and snails, I like to put my plants in the garden when they are a bit bigger. From the 40 cell module that works fine.
It is my experience that you can sow or start most things in the 40-cell module, and then put them in a larger module if desired. I have had to do the latter a few times because the larger modules were occupied. Transferring a seedling to a larger module is also a snap.
I would say: don’t hesitate, buy it :-). For advice on sizes, also look at the advice on this website. It helped me a lot when I was looking for “what size do I need for what”. The advice corresponds to my experiences so far with the various vegetables, flowers and herbs.
I also think the service of The Farm Dream is fantastic: the first seed trays I ordered were delivered from backorder and I was kept well informed of developments. Top! The other orders were delivered quickly, which of course is now – in the middle of the sowing season – very nice to keep the progress going :-).

The best trays I’ve ever used. Nice and solid, big enough, but not too big. It’s also nice that there are several sizes available. I mostly have the 40cel trays and they stack neatly into each other
