The sturdy 28-cell Long-Life Propagation Module Tray
If you’re looking for a bit more growing room for your plants or veggies, our 28-cell tray has got you covered. These roomy cells, measuring a generous 49mm (that’s 1.92 inches for you), are perfect for those seedlings that like to stretch their roots a bit. We are using them for kale, cucumbers, melons, or ranunculus – they just thrive in these spacious cells! If you started seeds in smaller cells, for example in the 77 cell tray, but you need to transplant them, the 28-cell is a great option. Especially for plants that can’t be transplanted into the garden yet due to frost or very soggy soil during spring.
You might have heard of module trays, also known as plug trays, propagation trays, or seed trays – they’re like a secret weapon for gardeners. They’re not just about growing; they’re about growing smarter. By kickstarting your seedlings indoors or under cover, you can extend your gardening season and outsmart the frost. And trust me, that’s a game-changer, especially in a place like the Netherlands with its unpredictable weather.
But why should you give these seed trays a shot?
- They’re built to last, with a whopping life expectancy of over 15 years (that’s less waste and more sustainability).
- Sturdy as a rock, durable, and oh-so-easy to handle (you can even hold them with one hand).
- The cells are designed with a large hole in the bottom of each cell, making it a breeze to pop out your seedlings and keeping soggy soil at bay (say goodbye to overwatering).
- Your plant roots will thank you – they get air-pruned for healthier branching and better overall plant quality.
- Plus, they’re UV stabilized, ensuring safety for your precious veggies to thrive.
We offer a complete collection of seed trays in many cell sizes, to grow anything you like. Plus most trays fit in our large propagator (yes, even the deep seed trays!) and can be combined with bottom water- and drip trays.
To help you out during the selection of your trays we developed a seed tray search engine. Type in what you would like to grow and the search engine will advise you what seed trays to use best. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you need any help when it comes to selecting the right seed trays when to sow, grow, or plant certain vegetables, or how to start a little flower farm.

zaaitrays hele goede kwaliteit.
goed kwaliteit en snelle levering zeer tevreden!
Fine size for larger seeds
I like to use this size for the slightly larger seeds, like beans. They grow out a bit quickly in a 40-cell size, in my experience. (Although they do fine in that too, you just have to transplant them into a slightly smaller size).
I have several sizes of cell trays and each size has its own advantages and trade-offs. If you sow a lot of large seeds or – like me – like to let plants grow a little bigger before you transplant them, these are very nice. I’m very happy with them, good quality too, just like all the other sizes!
