Pros and cons

According to our gardening experts

  • By far the most productive courgette variety we grow
  • Perfect for vertical growth or over landscape fabric or grass.
  • Strong and resilient plant
  • During rainy summers, plants can sometimes get infected with powdery mildew. While it usually doesn't harm the plant, it can make them look less attractive.
  • Saving seeds is not possible with this variety because parent plants are selectively hand-pollinated.
  • Climbing/ranking courgettes require more attention when grown vertically because new growth needs to be supported or tied up. The rank can become 6 meters long.

For an early harvest, start courgettes indoors or in a greenhouse in April. Once the last frost has passed and your plants have grown to a decent size, they are ready to be transplanted. This allows you to harvest your first courgettes as early as late June! From then onwards, you won't need to buy any until the first frost. With just one or two plants, you'll be able to provide your family with fresh harvests.
