Productinformation
Peppermint (Mentha x piperita)
Peppermint is a hybrid between watermint and spearmint. The plants are Indigenous to Europe and the Middle East but nowadays grown by gardeners worldwide. Most peppermint is grown in Marocco (83% in 2020) but you can easily grow the plants yourself. The plants grow and expand fast by underground rhizomes so it’s best to grow them in pots. The flowers of mint attract lots of pollinators. We grow mint in pots next to our front door because when you pass the plants it smells like fresh peppermint! If you like herbal scents we recommend combining them with basil and camomille. Plant them in separate pots because the peppermint will otherwise take over.
Only surface sow the seeds and do not cover seeds with soil. If the soil dries out too fast you can use a propagator. You get the best germination rate if you can keep the temperature around 20℃.
