Moles and voles and are valuable and effective animals in our ecosystem. Unfortunately, most gardeners aren’t their best friends. They dig up and damage your garden beds, push entire plants up from the soil, and enjoy digging in your pristine lawn. A great way to relocate them is to catch moles and voles alive.

Here’s how the trap works:

First, put on a pair of gloves as they can smell danger. Rub the trap and your gloves with soil to neutralize the trap’s scent. This step is crucial! Now, it’s time to select the right tunnel, which is essential for success. You want the animal to pass through the trap, so finding an active tunnel is necessary. Active tunnels are generally deeper and located between two molehills. You can locate the tunnels by pushing a stick into the ground. If you don’t feel any resistance, you’ve found a tunnel. Carefully open the tunnel (gloves on!) and place the trap inside. Cover both the trap and the opening with a bucket or anything else you can use to block out light. Put some soil around the edges of the bucket or cover.

If you’ve chosen an active tunnel, the moles or voles should pass through it within 1 or 2 days. If you haven’t caught them by then, try another tunnel. Don’t forget to check the trap daily to release the caught moles and voles alive. If you have not managed to catch one yet, don’t hesitate to contact us. Release the moles or voles at least a few hundred meters away from your garden or land. The further the better!
