Cocktail Tomato - Pink Thai egg (Solanum Lycopersicum) This smaller (cocktail) tomato is a bush variety. It originates from Thailand as an heirloom variety. the fruits grow the size of small eggs or ping pong balls and are beautiful pearl pink.
The fruits look like traditional pink Thai eggs that are preserved in a mixture of clay, ash, salt, quicklime, and rice hulls. Once preserved the eggshell turns pink and the egg white turns brown. If you tried one we would love to hear about the experience! We only dared to try the tomato version and they are sweet and flavourful. Plants grow around 100 cm tall and produce a lot!
