How to Grow Ammi (Queen Anne's Lace) from Seed

Ammi, or Queen Anne's lace, grows a taproot and does not like root disturbance. For best results, you can direct sow the seeds or plant them out as small seedlings before they become rootbound. We recommend using a high 40-cell seed tray.

For optimal growth, start seeds in the autumn in a greenhouse and plant them out in early spring or late autumn if your soil is not too soggy. When harvesting, pick the flowers when about half the blooms are open on the stems. Avoid picking them too early, as the stems may not be firm enough.

Autumn-sown plants generally grow taller, stronger, and flower earlier compared to those started in spring. Support is necessary for the plants to grow properly.
