Productinformation

Broad Beans – Tripple white (Vicia faba)
Tripple white or in dutch driemaal wit is a popular dutch broad bean variety. The flowers are white and the plants do not grow so tall that they need staking. The beans are very suitable for the freezer and the flavor is milder. Even after cooking the color is fresh and white to green.

Sowing and harvesting

  • Start in October – November;
  • Start in January-February under cover and transplant in March;
  • Direct sow in March – April;
  • Harvest this crop around June and July

Advice and tips

  • Best started in seed trays because mice and birds eat beans and seedlings;
  • Might need some extra protection from birds when the beans start to form
  • Space 25-30 cm apart. We grow 2 rows in a 75 cm bed.
  • Mild winter hardy variety needs frost protection.
