Productinformation
Tropaeolum majus Purple Emperor flower seeds, also known as Nasturtium
Plants grow beautiful green foliage with dark rose to purple flowers. This is a ranking variety to grow over a porch or trellis. Did you know that it’s used as a sacrificial plant? The insects will love this plant more than other plants in your garden. It works like a magnet. As soon as you see infested parts you cut away those leaves and the plant will continue to grow. Flowers and leaves are edible but this variety is more selected as an ornamental plant. The flowers also attract a lot of butterflies and bees. A beautiful plant with so many benefits is definitely worth saving some space for in your garden!
We hope you will like the purple to vintage dark pink flowers. Not every plant will grow the same color flowers, plant 2 or 3 together for a good mix. As plants grow older and the weather changes, the intensity of the color changes as well.

How can I grow Tropaeolum purple emperor plants from seed?
Tropaeolum or nasturtium is super easy to grow. Sow seeds in your greenhouse or under cover in the spring and plant out seedlings after the frost. You can also direct sow the seeds but we never direct sow seeds except for carrots. So we can not really share our experience with direct sowing other than that the rabbits love to eat all our seedlings before we even see them. Tropaeolum or nasturtium is very easy to grow. It self-seeds easily. Remove seedpods regularly or cut back if you don’t want that.
Plants are very strong and can be cut back if they grow too large or are infested with aphids.
