Growing Flowering Tobacco Lemon Tree:
Once you’ve germinated the seeds, growing flowering tobacco is a breeze. Start seeds in seed trays with a propagator a few weeks before the last expected frost date. The propagator helps maintain the ideal soil moisture. As the seeds are tiny do not cover the seeds with soil. To speed up germination, you can use a heating mat, as Nicotiana prefers a slightly warmer environment (20-22°C) for successful germination. Be patient, as the seedlings are delicate and grow slowly initially. Once the chance of frost has passed, transplant the seedlings to a sunny spot.
Flowering tobacco is relatively pest-free and adapts well to different soil types. Water the plants occasionally during warm summer days, and you’ll be rewarded with continuous flushes of exquisite flowers. Remember to cut back dead flowers to encourage new blooms.
Did you know that it is also a great addition to your cutting garden? You can pick the stems when the first few flowers have opened. The flowers will last at least a week. The stems are a bit sticky, but it will not bother you much.
